How payouts work in a Mérida casino

Two taxes are withheld before you get paid: 6% under the Yucatán State Finance Law and 1% federal income tax under article 138 of the Mexican Income Tax Law, which applies that rate when the state tax does not exceed 6%. From 1,000 pesos you receive about 930, with a receipt. Promotional credit on your player card is playable, not withdrawable.

What reaches your hand from every 1,000 pesos.

From a 1,000-peso prize, 60 go to state tax, 10 to federal tax and 930 to the player.

02Why people say "they keep half"

Promotional credit loaded by the loyalty club is for play only. If you loaded 500 of your own and got 500 promotional, only your 500 is withdrawable if you do not play. Winnings from promotional credit are withdrawable, after tax.

03Online instead

A Mexican-licensed online platform pays withdrawals to a bank account or e-wallet; prize taxes still apply by law and each operator publishes how it withholds.
